The Ys series is one of the most beloved in theJRPGgenre with each entry chronicling a new tale of red-haired adventurer Adol Christin. The newesttitlein the series, Ys X: Nordics, is the tenth installment, and it’s coming to the West in 2024.

A release date trailer was shared onJuly 5, 2024, which gave fans a look at what to expect from Adol’s next adventure, including a quick glimpse at the new traversal system.
The official Western announcement trailer for the game was shared by NIS America onFebruary 14, 2024. It highlights some of the action-packed gameplay, as well as some of the characters Adol will meet.
Ys X: Nordics story and gameplay details
This milestone entry in the Ys franchise is an action RPG that will feature plenty of fast-paced battles, including naval combat. Adol will cross paths with a new female protagonist, Karja Balta, after they find themselves bound by fate, and caught in the middle of a conflict between two different factions – a tribe of sailors known as the Normans, and the seemingly immortal Griegr.

Fans can expect to experience a heartfelt story, a heavy emphasis on exploration including ocean traversal, and a lot of exciting action. The new cross-action system will allow you to control both Adol and Karja in fights and combine their unique abilities to overcome foes.
Another new addition to this game is the Mana Action system which gives the player unique traversal abilities. You’ll be able to grapple and slide through dungeons, uncover hidden treasures, create new platforms to use, and destroy obstacles blocking your way in the different game environments.
