What does being verified on TikTok mean?

Being verified means that the platform “has confirmed the account belongs to the user it represents,”according to TikTok.

It is designed as a way for “notable figures” to prove that they are who they say they are, and that the content users are viewing is authentic.

There is a range of different types of accounts that could gain verified status, including celebrities, influencers, non-profits, and official brand pages.

How to get verified on TikTok

Up until November 2022, there was no way for a user themselves to request verification on TikTok,but now users in certain areas are able to do so through the app.

If you have the feature on the app and you want to apply, just do as follows:

In the TikTok app, tapProfileat the bottom.2. Tap theMenu☰ button at the top.3. TapSettings and privacy.4. TapAccount, then tapVerification.༚ If you’re registered as a Business Account, then you can only apply for a business verification.༚ If you’re registered as a Personal Account, then you can apply for personal and institution verifications5.Follow the stepsin the app to submit a verification request.

To support your application for a verified badge, you must provide credible written media coverage, such as news articles.
