I’m Convinced Thunderbolts* Is Hiding A Villain

What Valentina Allegra De Fontaine’s MCU Setup Teases About Her Thunderbolts* Role

She Has Appeared In Multiple Projects

Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine has left her mark in the MCU by slowly recruiting members for her Thunderbolts team across movies and series. While Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes is the field leader of the MCU’s new team, Valentina is the one behind assembling the squad. Louis-Dreyfuss is a fan of that approach, saying, “I like the idea of her maybe being a little bit of a puppet master.”

The character has appeared inBlack Widow,Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, andThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierso far. Across her appearances, Valentina has interacted with keyThunderbolts*characters like Yelena Belova and John Walker, as well as had her true power revealed. Besides being the founder of the Thunderbolts, Valentina is none other than the Director of the CIA in the MCU — and the ex-wife of Martin Freeman’s Everett Ross.

Valentina was after Vibranium inBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever. The Thunderbolts serve as the perfect covert team for her to be able to do just that. She could either send the Thunderbolts on a secret mission to get as much Vibranium as possible from Wakanda, or the MCU could introduce Marvel Comics' Savage Land, an exotic location that possesses a specific type of Vibranium and is also the home of dinosaurs. Valentina’s government job, MCU setup, and creation of the Thunderbolts effectively make her the Multiverse Saga’s Nick Fury, a role that could be expanded on afterThunderbolts*.
