Why The Batman 2 Script Is Taking So Long
While it is understandable to see so many DC fans wantingThe Batman - Part IIto happen, its delay is related to a lot of reasons. Initially,The Batman - Part IIwas set to start principal photography in November 2023, when the sequel was still scheduled to be released in October 2025. However, in light of the WGA strike in 2023,The Batman - Part IIhad to be delayed to 2026, as most of last year saw Hollywood go through a shutdown.
Now, filming onThe Batman - Part IIis expected to start in 2025, and it’s crucial to remember thatThe Batmanalso had to go through its own set of delays. Despite no vaccines existing back then,The Batmanstill went through principal photography during the global COVID-19 pandemic, which included a number of pauses in production. It even got to the point when Pattinson tested positive for COVID, which was one of the many times that production was forced to be halted onThe Batman.

It’s also worth taking into account that Reeves having the extra time to complete his vision forThe Batman - Part IIis only a good thing in the long run. With the expectations being high forThe Batman - Part II, it’s better not to rush it, increasing the chances for the sequel to be even better than the first one. Hopefully, there will be more updates onThe Batman - Part IIsometime in the fall, as casting will likely be taking place for the sequel.
