Summary
Sweet Homeseason 3’s trailer has been released, bringing major reveals and teases for the final season of Song Kang’s Netflix K-drama. Following a three-year wait between seasons 1 and 2,Sweet Homeseason 3is releasing only a few months after its predecessor. One of the most popularK-dramas on Netflix,Sweet Homewas renewed for two additional seasons shortly after its debut and will now conclude in what is being described as a“grand finale.”
Thecast ofSweet Homeseason 2was bigger than that of the first season, with the show introducing a lot of new characters after the time skip. While the decision to focus on new characters instead of names like Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok was very divisive,Sweet Homeseason 2’s finale set up an exciting final season with a lot at stake. The first trailer forSweet Homeseason 3 confirms the show’s ultimate villainand teases Hyun-su’s heroic arc.

8Sang-won Will Be Sweet Home’s Ultimate Villain
Sang-won wants neohumans to take over the world
Sweet Homeseason 2’s endingrevealed thatUi-myeong, who was using Sang-wook’s body, was actually Sang-won– Yi-kyung’s fiancé who disappeared in season 1. Not only is Sang-won back, but he will be the show’s ultimate villain. The first trailer forSweet Homeseason 3 focuses a lot on “Sang-wook” and sees his organization seemingly taking over the stadium. Sang-won’s plan is for neohumans to take over the world and start a new one where everyone goes through monsterization. To do so, he has been experimenting with humans and monsters. Sang-won also now has the help of Dr. Lim.
Sweet Homeseason 3 releases July 19 on Netflix.
Sang-won was tortured by Dr. Lim and the military when he was turned into a test subject at the beginning of the monster apocalypse. This is why the character hates humans so much and wants neohumans to take over. Sang-won has been fascinated with what the monsterization process can achieve ever since season 1, when he was still going by “Ui-myeong.”There is a particular rivalry between Sang-won and Hyun-su, the latter of which does not even know about the former’s real identity.
7Song Kang’s Hyun-su & Lee Do-hyun’s Eun-hyeok Will Finally Reunite
Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok last interacted in season 1
It took almost four years, butHyun-su and Eun-hyeok have finally reunited.Sweet Homeseason 3’s trailer includes a brief yet important frame where the characters played by Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun are standing side by side. This marks the first timeHyun-su and Eun-hyeokhave been on the same scene since the end ofSweet Homeseason 1, during which Eun-yu’s brother stayed behind ahead of the attack on the building. Although it seemed like Eun-hyeok had died, season 2’s finale revealed that he was alive after all.
Dr. Lim
Oh Jung-se
The dynamic between Eun-hyeok and Hyun-su was one of the best things aboutSweet Homeseason 1. A natural leader, Eun-hyeok had to deal with the fact that Hyun-su was infected with the monster virus yet somehow could retain his consciousness. Eun-hyeok also had to solve a bunch of other problems as the leader of the group, which created a strong bond based on mutual respect between him and Hyun-su. Now thatEun-hyeok is also a neohuman, it will be interesting to see how what his relationship with Hyun-su will be like.
6Sweet Home Season 3 Will Be About Neohumans
Neohumans are front and center in season 3’s trailer
“Monsterization is the first step in your transformation into neohumans,”an ally of Sang-won says to the residents of the stadium at the beginning of the trailer. Once a rare occurrence, neohumans appear to have become much more common sinceSweet Homeseason 1. Neohumans are those who are infected with the monster curse but do not transform completely, resulting in a person that is both human and monster. The first example of a neohuman inSweet Homewas Hyun-su, who started to transform in episode 1 but never fully became a monster.
Sweet Home Season 3 Update Confirms The Most Exciting Thing About Song Kang’s Hyun-su Return
Sweet Home season 3’s latest update confirms one exciting thing about Song Kang’s Cha Hyun-su ahead of the Netflix horror K-drama’s conclusion.
Sang-won believes that neohumans are the natural next step of the world’s evolution and must take over the planet. This is why he kidnapped Dr. Lim at the end of season 1 – Sang-won wants to understand more about the curse and turn every single human into a neohuman. The villain has been kidnapping people to use them as test subjects for his experiments, which is ironic consideringSang-won once suffered at the hands of Dr. Lim and his experiments.Presumably, Sang-won wants to turn everyone at the stadium into neohumans.

5Lee Do-hyun’s Eun-hyeok Return Is Being Kept Under Wraps
Eun-hyeok barely appears in the trailer
Lee Do-hyun may have appeared inSweet Homeseason 3’s trailer, butEun-hyeok’s return is still a mystery. The character was revealed to be alive in season 2’s final scene, which showed Eun-hyeok emerging from the wreckages of the Green Home as he walked toward the camera and smiled. Eun-hyeok had clearly just gone through the cocoon phase of the monsterization process, thus confirming he was infected at the end of season 1 when his nose bled. Even though Eun-hyeok’s return has been confirmed, the trailer is hiding what he is up to now.
During season 2, Eun-yu assumed the mysterious person protecting her was Eun-hyeok, but it was actually Hyun-su.

It is unclear if Eun-hyeok will be a hero or a villain inSweet Homeseason 3, although it would be quite tragic if he was now the bad guy. The only indicator of what will happen to Eun-hyeok inSweet Homeseason 3 is thatLee Do-hyun’s characteris wearing similar clothes as Hyun-su. The first official image forSweet Home’s final season shows Eun-yu, Eun-hyeok, and Hyun-su all wearing similar clothes and walking side by side. The “Sweet Hometrio” may have been captured by Sang-won or infiltrated his organization.
4The Stadium Will Be Even More Important In Sweet Home Season 3
Sang-won has taken over the stadium
The stadium was the Green Home’s replacement inSweet Homeseason 2, a place where most of the main characters were living together. Before the time skip, Sargeant Taki and his men reached an agreement with Chief Ji to make the stadium into their new community. Season 2 explored the challenges of keeping peace and order in this community as the world outside of the stadium erupted. Additionally, both Sargeant Taki and Chief Ji were hiding major secrets. Chief Ji wanted to keep her husband, now a monster, around, whereas Sargeant Taki was secretly infected.
Sweet Home Season 3 Will Be Its Last, And I Couldn’t Be Happier About It
Netflix has confirmed that Sweet Home will conclude with season 3, and that is actually great news for the horror K-drama starring Song Kang.
Sweet Homeseason 2 ends with chaos about to erupt from the stadium, particularly after the lights went out. With Sargeant Taki about to transform, the relatively peaceful days of the stadium will be no more. Additionally,Sang-won and his followers will arrive at the stadium inSweet Homeseason 3.The trailer sees Sargeant Taki opening the gate for Sang-won, suggesting they are now working together. It is unclear for how long Taki has been cooperating with Sang-won, or if this is a newly formed alliance. Taki may also be forced to let Sang-won in.
3Sweet Home Season 3 May Include Another Time Skip
Hyun-su has two different haircuts in the trailer
Sweet Homeseason 2 included a divisive one-year time skip between episodes 2 and 3, after which several new characters were introduced andSong Kang’s Hyun-su was nowhere to be seen. Although a new time skip has not been confirmed, the season 3 trailer suggests it will happen.Hyun-su has two different haircuts in the trailer. One is longer, similar to how he looked at the end of season 2 when he reunited with Eun-yu. The other is shorter, closer to how Hyun-su looked before the time skip in season 2.
Naturally, a different haircut does not mean thatSweet Home’s final season will have a time skip. Hyun-su may have been captured by Sang-won and forced into off his hair and change his clothes, which is exactly what happened between seasons 1 and 2. The fact that Hyun-su is wearing a fancy suit at some point is also interesting. It appears that Hyun-su will briefly be part of Sang-won’s organization, whose members are all wearing fancy clothes.Other characters like Eun-yu have only one haircut throughout the trailer, suggesting there may not be a time skip after all.
2Yi-kyung’s Daughter Will Be At The Stadium In Sweet Home Season 3
The child is Sweet Home’s most powerful character
Yi-kyung’s daughter, one of the most mysterious and important characters inSweet Home, briefly appears in the season 3 trailer. While Yi-kyung was pregnant in season 1, the birth of her child was only covered in season 2.Yi-kyung gave birth to a “monster” on a frozen lakein one of the most impactful scenes of the show. This child, who was born a neohuman, grew older much quicker than a regular human. Yi-kyeon’s daughter should be two years old, yet she grew into a 10-year-old after being attacked.
WhetherSweet Home’s monster child will be a villain in season 3 remains to be seen. Yi-kyung’s daughter hates humans and does not trust anyone after how she was treated. Even the girl’s mother was afraid of her powers and once tried to kill her. The relationship between Yi-kyung and her daughter is utterly tragic, having shaped the child into an unpredictable character. Yi-kyung’s daughter is extremely powerful and can turn other people into monsters just by touching them. Additionally, she can control the minds of infected people.
Hyun-su is fighting all sorts of monsters and neohumans
Sweet Homeseason 3’s trailer ends with Hyun-su telling Eun-hyeok that he will kill Sang-won no matter what, followed by clips ofSong Kang’s characterfighting all types of monsters, including a giant one.The final confrontation ofSweet Homewill be Hyun-su vs. Sang-won, a battle three seasons in the making. Hyun-su and Sang-won met in season 1 when the latter was still using Ui-myeong’s body. At the beginning of season 2, Ui-myeong, now using Sang-wook’s body, invited Hyun-su to join him.
After Hyun-su’s refusal, the two had a brief fight that did not end well for Song Kang’s character. Presumably, Hyun-su and Sang-won have not seen each other since then. Hyun-su is ready to do whatever it takes to stop Sang-won from taking over the world with his army of neohumans, raising the question of what will happen toSweet Home’s protagonist in the show’s final season. Hyun-su would have no problem sacrificing himself for others, although he deserves a happy ending after going through so much.
