Blade Runner 2099 Show’s New Filming Start Month Reportedly Revealed

Details on Schafer’s character are being kept under wraps, as are all other details about the highly-anticipated Amazon Prime series.

Schafer Joins Scott’s Latest Continuation Of The Blade Runner Story
Scott’s originalBlade Runnermovierevolutionized science fiction when it came out in 1982. Featuring groundbreaking visuals, the noir-inspired film set a tone for gritty futuristic sci-fi that would inspire filmmakers for years to come. One of those filmmakers, Villeneuve, took over directorial duties on 2017’sBlade Runner 2049, the long-awaited sequel to Scott’s original classic.
Blade Runner 2049was something of a box office disappointment, grossing just $267 million worldwide, and now Scott will turn to Prime Video and the small screen in once again expanding the universe he introduced back in 1982. Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) serves as showrunner onBlade Runner 2099, bringing a new perspective to the material, with a story Scott has likened to Aldous Huxley’s classic novelBrave New World.

It’s yet to be seen what brave new take on Scott’s sci-fi universe Luisa has in store for viewers whenBlade Runner 2099reaches Prime Video. The cast is becoming intriguing after the additions of Yeoh and Schafer, the latter of whom made a strong impression as Tigris in the recentHunger Gamesprequel movie, after garnering attention as Jules in HBO’sEuphoria.
