It might be cold in February, but theEnglish Premier Leagueis starting to heat up. With most teams having 14 games left, the action will only intensify as the games become even more important. Liverpool has been out front for most of the 2024-2025 season. Barring a miraculous comeback, Manchester City’s streak of four consecutive Premier League titles will end this spring.

The Premier League will be off for the second weekend in February. Several teams are participating in the FA Cup, with fourth-round matches scheduled from February 7-11. The Premier League returns to action on February 12. With the final stretch approaching, here’s everything you need to know about the Premier League, including the upcoming February schedule, storylines, and matchups.

Premier League 2024-2025: Storylines to follow

We can confirm that@LisandrMartinezsuffered an injury to his cruciate ligament in Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace.

Can Ruben Amorim get his players to resemble anything close to a team worthy of wearing theManchester Unitedbadge? Lisandro Martinez suffered a devastating cruciate ligament injury and will not play again this season. With Martinez out for over six months, questions remain on the backline. Paired with underwhelming moves during the January transfer window and lackluster attack options, it’s time for the gaffer to be brought in mid-season to lead the team and stop complaining about his players and their attitudes.

Will Arsenal finish in second again? As of February 7, Arsenal trails Liverpool by six points in the standings. Is Mikel Arteta’s team destined to finish in second for a third consecutive season, or can they break through and finally win their first Premier League title since the 2003-2004 season?

Liverpoolremains at the top of the standings and will look to make Arne Slot’s first season at the helm a wild success. The Scousers are definitely in a cheery mood. The drama surrounding Mohamed Salah’s contract and cryptic messages from the Egyptian striker have the makings of a story that could derail their season. However, it seems as though everyone is playing nicely together. Will a championship be a nice parting gift from Salah to The Kop, or is there trouble brewing?

After an unbeaten run of 12 matches across all competitions, AFC Bournemouth dropped their last match to Liverpool. USMNT right-back Tyler Adams has returned from injury and has the team primed to challenge for a spot to play European football next season.

With Chelsea, Enzo Maresca has the team trending in the right direction with a chance to return to the Champions League after a few dismal seasons. Consistency will be key for the West London club, which has yet to be seen this season.

After the signings of Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio, and Axel Disasi, Unai Emery believesAston Villawill enter the top four and qualify for the Champions League. Emery has been known to get the best out of his players. The sky is the limit if Rashford returns to his previous form.

What happened toManchester City? We never thought we would see a Pep Guardiola-led Manchester City team turn in the performances we’ve seen this year. Yet City is fifth as of February 7 and has become a team with many unanswered questions. City believes the answer is spending, racking up a transfer fee bill in January of £180M ($223M), accounting for 48% of all money spent by Premier League clubs. Rarely is more money the answer to anyone’s problems. We’ll see what Pep & crew can do with the remaining 14 matches in the season.
