Peak Mesa update adds desert biome and bug phobia mode
A new patch has arrived inPEAK, and it’s not just a few bug fixes. The latest update promises fresh terrain to explore, new tools to experiment with, and a handful of tweaks that could change how players approach each run. There’s even a limited-time quest tied to a special reward.
While the team is keeping some surprises close to the chest, this update is packed with enough changes to get players heading back up the mountain. Here’s a breakdown of everything included in PEAK v1.20.a.

New biome: The Mesa
The biggest addition is The Mesa, a scorching environment filled with sandy trails, rocky outcrops, and scattered patches of shade. It replaces Alpine for the next seven days before future maps rotate between the two. The biome also hides a few secrets, encouraging players to venture off the main path.
New badges and items
Ten new badges are now available, each unlocking cosmetic rewards. Players can also find and use new gear:
Developers have also hinted at a hidden surprise tucked away in The Kiln.

Accessibility and controls
A new “Bug Phobia Mode” lets players avoid arachnids and other insects. The settings menu can now also be navigated entirely via controller.

Limited-time Discord quest
From August 11–17 at 10 AM PDT, a special Play Quest on Discord will reward players with a Bing Bong Avatar.
