Star-Lord is a DuelistcharacterinMarvel Rivalswith an extremely mobile playstyle but to get the most out of him you’ll need to know how to use his abilities and ultimate.
Star-Lord is one of the best flankers in Marvel Rivals thanks to a highly mobile kit, despite it being relatively simplistic. He can also constantly harass the enemies’ backline which makes him extremely effective in the right hands.
Star-Lord stats in Marvel Rivals
Star-Lord is a Duelist who thrives thanks to his high mobility in Marvel Rivals. He can dash around the map to both get away from incoming attacks and quickly move in for the kill. While his kit is simple overall, he can be extremely impactful if used correctly.
Season 1.5 meta changes
Star-Lord remains relatively unchanged inthe Season 1.5 patch. The only feature that’s changed is an increase in Rocket Propulsion’s maximum energy from 1200 to 1800. While it’s not a large change, the increase in energy will increase Star-Lord’s movement, which will increase his survivability.

The bulk of Star-Lord’s abilities enhance his movement in Marvel Rivals. He can engage in free-fight to lock onto enemies, quickly dodge an enemy’s attack and reload his weapon, and consume energy to soar forward with a movement boost.
How to play Star-Lord in Marvel Rivals
As you can tell, Star-Lord’s kit is very barebones, especially in comparison to the large ability list of fellow Duelists such asScarlet Witchand Hela. However, since it’s so simplistic, Star-Lord isrelatively easy to pick upthough difficult to master.

Star-Lordexcels when he’s flanking, so verify you’realways in the enemy’s backlinehunting for your next target. His abilities allow you topinpoint a weak healer in the enemy team, quickly kill them, and get out.
Additionally, he is great whenstuck in a sticky situation, being able to easily dive, and get out of a team fight quickly.
Element Guns, his primary weapon, maybe one of – if not the best – weapons in the game, as you can take down a300 HP target in one clipif all your shots are aimed at theenemy’s head.
His ultimate,Galactic Legend, quite literally gives you an aim bot while flying. This means it’sbest to use it when kicking off a big team fight, as it is a fantastic engagement ult to either take out a few opponents or create a lot of space.
However, it should be noted that Star-Lord is quite high in APM, which means hisskill ceiling can be difficult to attain. You’ll need to aim well while moving around a lot, but if you can get the hang of it, he’ll be one of the better Duelists in that game.
Best team comps
Some of the best characters to pair with Star-Lord if Marvel Rivals are:
Adam Warlock & Mantis
Star-Lord shares a Team-Up Ability with Adam Warlock and Mantis which allows Adam to revive Peter and Mantis on the battlefield with his Regenerative Cocoon.
When this is paired with Adam’s ultimate ability as well you’ve got a lot of opportunities to keep your team alive. This ultimately makes this particular team comp really hard to take down in Marvel Rivals.

Hela is particularly good to pair with Star-Lord as she excels at attacking from a distance and dealing consistent damage to enemies.
If you may land a hit with her Soul Drainer ability to stun the enemy, it gives Star-Lord the perfect opportunity to dash in and finish them off. This is a particularly good approach to taking out healers so you can leave the opposing team in a more vulnerable state for a short while.

Finally, Magneto is a tough tank in the game and he can focus on soaking up damage from enemy projectiles on the battlefield.
His Metal Bulwark ability can also give Star-Lord some extra protection which is perfect for when Peter’s skills are on cooldown.

Best counters
If you find yourself struggling to defeat a Star-Lord, we’d advise using one of the following fighters:
Hawkeye is a great counter to Star-Lord as it doesn’t take much to defeat Peter as long as you’ve got solid aim.
Star-Lord is all about movement sand dashing into close-range to dish out the damage. If you can stay at least a medium distance away as Hawkeye, you should be able to take him out with your trusty bow.

The Punisher
Similar to Hawkeye, The Punisher can hang back a bit and whittle away Star-Lord’s health from a distance.
He also deals some of the best poke damage in the entire game, so as long as you’re patient you should be able to whittle down Peter’s health effectively.

Squirrel Girl
One of Star-Lord’s biggest drawbacks is the fact that most of his skills prevent him from using other movement abilities once they’re activated. This leaves room for an enemy to jump in and take him down quickly.
When he’s movements hindered it’s the perfect time for Squirrel Girl to show up with her Burst Acorns. These projectiles deal explosive damage, and her Squirrel Tsunami can target a particular enemy. Finally, you can quickly get away from away potential counters with her Tail Bounce.
