While its 2023 release was purely digital, a Physical Deluxe Edition was announced for 2024, and after several delays, players are finally receiving their copies.
As its name would suggest, thePhysical Deluxe Edition contained a physical copy of the game across several discs on PS5 and Xbox Series X - or a Steam code for those on PC -but also came with a DLC code for the Digital Deluxe in-game content, but there has been a mix-up with some versions of the game surrounding this.
As shared by RedditoriWentRogue,some Physical Deluxe Edition players on Xbox were given a code that was supposed to unlock the Digital Deluxe Edition DLC but redeemed the base game digitally instead. Larian has emailed them in response to the mix-up and confirmed that those who have already redeemed the code will be able to keep the digital version ofBaldur’s Gate 3and that the company will send out follow-up codes for the DLC “over the next few days.”

Alongside the aforementioned physical copy of the game - which is spread across two discs on PlayStation 5 and four on Xbox -Baldur’s Gate 3’s Physical Deluxe Edition also comes with a physical version of the Original Game Soundtrack, composed of three CDs. Alongside the disc-based media, the Physical Deluxe Edition includes a double-sided map made from Wilbalin Buckram, a high-quality binding material with a cloth-like texture, and otherphysical bonuses such as a Mind Flayer poster, 32 stickers, 2 patches, and a special Deluxe Edition box designed to match the style of the first two gamesso the wholeBaldur’s Gateseries can be displayed together.

While those who purchase physical media do prefer to have their media all secured on discs for the sake of game preservation and would undoubtedly have been disappointed when they put in their DLC code only to find it was a digital copy of the game they just bought physically, Larian’s customer service can’t be faulted in this instance. Those players who were impacted will still have their physical versions ofBaldur’s Gate 3, now with an optional digital version too, and will be getting the DLC shortly anyway.
