Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Boys season 4, episodes 1-3.
Summary
The Boyshas a reputation for delivering scenes viewers can never unsee, andI won’t forgive season 4 for getting an awful song stuck in my head — even if it is pretty comical. The Boysseason 4debuted with three episodes on June 13, and the Amazon series isn’t pulling its punches when it comes to jaw-dropping moments and social commentary. AlthoughThe Boys’new episodesare a bit slower than usual, they’re packed with jabs at real-life events. AndThe Boysseason 4, episode 3’smost ridiculous parody comes in the form of a song.
This isn’t the first timeThe Boyshas used music to inject comedy into an episode; Kimiko and Frenchie do a song and dance routine in season 3. However, season 4’s musical moment comes off as slightly more ridiculous, as it’s used to convey Vought’s ideologies. As such, it’s not a song I’d typically walk around belting the lyrics to. Buteven I can’t deny thatThe Boys’season 4’s self-parody is as catchy as it is awful.

The Boys season 4 raises the tensions between non-Supes and Supes, and it introduces several of the latter in its new episodes. Who are they?
Vought On Ice’s Song Is Truly Awful, But I Can’t Stop Singing It
“Let’s Put The Christ Back In Christmas” Is Surprisingly Catchy
The Boysseason 4 introduces Vought on Ice, the latest production by the show’s corrupt, Supe-run company.Viewers are treated to a glimpse of Vought on Ice in episode 3, when Hughie and MM attempt to spy on Victoria Neuman’s meeting with Homelander. Vought on Ice is even more absurd than Dawn of the Seven, and the fact that it’s a musical adds to the comedy. Episode 3’s shot of the production shows actors dressed like Homelander and Queen Maeve singing “Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas,” a truly awful song about “the war on Christmas.”
Under less outlandish circumstances, it could come off as a fun musical bop — though its lyrics make it a frustrating piece to have stuck in your mind.

Vought on Ice’s song is intentionally bad, as the lyrics are intended to be Vought propaganda. However, the actual music behind “Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas” is catchy enough that it’ll stay in your head. I’m impressed by how well the actors sing their parts, and Christopher Lennertz does a good job with the composition. Under less outlandish circumstances, it could come off as a fun musical bop — though its lyrics make it a frustrating piece to have stuck in your mind.
What The Boys Season 4’s Christmas Song Is Parodying
The Show’s Vought On Ice Scene Parodies The “War On Christmas”
I may never forgiveThe Boysseason 4 for getting its Vought on Ice song in my head, but I do understand the point of this addition.“Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas” parodies the perceived war on Christmas, as well as people who believe you aren’t allowed to say “Merry Christmas” anymore. That’s how the song starts, and it’s no coincidence that Maeve’s offense at hearing “happy holidays” takes place at a coffee shop. Starbucks receives backlash for being inclusive with its holiday cups and greetings (viaCBS News), whichThe Boysdraws inspiration from.
With its Vought on Ice performance,The Boyscontinues its trend of satirizing real-life controversies and situations through the lens of Vought and its Supes. The Amazon series just wouldn’t be the same without its commentary, and it never fails to take things to the most ludicrous extremes possible. Since it’s in character forThe Boys,I guess I can’t bethatmad that its new song won’t leave my brain — but I do hope another song takes its place soon.
