The Final ShapeinDestiny 2has brought many changes to the sandbox, including Strange Coins. This currency was introduced initially with the 30th Anniversary Bundle that brought the Eternity destination. Guardians could interact with their favorite paracausal NPC, Xur, whenever they wished. The 30th Anniversary Bundle introduced the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon, Xur’s Treasure Hoard, and Dares of Eternity. Strange Coins were initially used to purchase rewards from Xur.

Fortunately, the Strange Coins that Guardians have previously obtained are kept. SinceThe Final Shapewas released,Legendary Shards have been removed. These were used to upgrade gear and could be earned by dismantling or from activities. One of the most important uses was spendingLegendary Shards with Xurfor weekly rewards. Strange Coins have taken their place since the previous currency is no longer in the game. Luckily, Guardians can easily stock up before the weekend arrives.

The in-game text for Strange Coins has been extended to state, “Can be exchanged for items for Xur at the Tower.” This can be interpreted as his no longer appearing on different planets each weekend.
