Hilary Swank’s Yellowjackets Season 3 character is not who you think

Long beforeYellowjacket’s third chapterpremiered, the Oscar-winning star was announced to be joining the cast as a “recurring guest star”, and we’ve been left waiting with bated breath ever since.
It’s been speculated that she’ll be playing adult Melissa, the theory going that she’d been stalking Shauna in the present day – and she’s the one who sent the DAT tape. However, Season 3 Episode 6 threw a spanner in the works in the ‘90s timeline with thearrival of three strangers.
Things are taken up a notch in the latest episode, as we learnthe Yellowjacketskilled the strangers, not realizing that Hannah (Ashley Sutton) has a daughter back home named Alex. Given Hannah hid the incriminating recording in the woods, Alex potentially obtained it and is now threatening the adult Yellowjackets.
Jaylee Hamidi is credited as Alex in Yellowjackets Season 3
Even though it was assumed Hilary Swank would be playing Alex, not Melissa, credits at the end of Season 3 Episode 7 reveal an actress named Jaylee Hamidi has taken on the role instead.

The creators of thehorror seriesare yet to discuss this, nor have they revealed anything about Swank’s character. But the news has certainly left fans shocked.
Yellowjackets Newssharedthe discovery on X/Twitter, writing, “Jaylee Hamidi will be playing Alex, Hannah’s daughter, in Yellowjackets Season 3.” One said in response, “It’s not Hilary Swank?!”
Anotherwrote, “Hilary Swank you are not the daughter,” while a third added, “For most of the episode I figured she’d be the daughter, but at the end it’s confirmed Alex is played by Jaylee Hamidi.”

A fourth commented onReddit, “Jaylee Hamidi is credited as Alex in Episode 7 and you can see her close the blinds at the end of the episode.”
Hamidi is a poetry writer and actress, best known for her roles in titles such as Supernatural, Supergirl, How to Die Alone, and A Teacher.

This still leaves the mystery of who Swank is playing. She might be adult Melissa after all, or she could be Hannah’s sister or another relative of that family.
Either way, we know she’ll be making an appearance in the next installment, and she certainly seems to know what the Yellowjackets didout in the Wilderness.
At the end of the Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 8 promo teaser, Swank’s character asks, “Does she know what you did? What you’re capable of?”
It’s likely she’s talking to Shauna, as in the latest episode, Shauna listened to the rest of the tape, including Hannah’s message to her daughter: “I wanted you to be proud of me. Not just a mom who had a teenage pregnancy.”
She looks up Hannah and finds her obituary, before abandoning her family, Tai, Van, and Misty to go pay Alex a visit – and she’s got a brand-new hunting knife with her.
There are more clues about what happens in theSeason 3 trailer, which shows Swank’s character abandoning some cars and running down the road with blood on her face.
