Gun-wielding man busted for high-speed police chase said he was “in GTA”

A 19-year-old Utah man claimed he was “in GTA” while filming himself leading police on a wild chase, according to documents.

On February 20, a man from Pleasant Grove was allegedly driving around in a sedan without a license plate when a police officer attempted to pull him over.

KSL reportsthat the man didn’t pull over and instead, as per court documents, accelerated and ran a red light. The officer turned on his siren and chased after the man, who almost hit another vehicle and sped up to 95MPH.

Although the officer stopped chasing the 19-year-old for safety reasons, a month later, the authorities received three videos of the chase, including one of the suspect gloating about “being inGTA.”

According to the court documents, all three clips were posted to social media. In the first video, the man accelerated while discussing the police chasing him.

In the second, he allegedly recorded himself saying, “I’m in GTA, bro!” as he held up a black handgun. It’s not specified if the man was referring to GTA 4, San Andreas, or the upcomingGTA 6.

The third video had the man recording police in his rearview mirror.

Investigators say the man had removed a brown wrap that was on the vehicle during the chase, turning his car silver to throw off police. It’s not known if the suspect took to a Pay ‘n’ Spray.
