Summary
Kelsey Grammer has some ideas on how to bring back a couple of Cheers characters in theFrasierreboot season 2. Not long after theFrasierreboot season 1 finale, Paramount+ renewed the sitcom, which is currently in production. Not much is known about what to expect from the sophomore outing of the series, especially considering Frasier and Freddy’s relationship status at the end of its debut year. That said, it’s guaranteed thatFrasier will stay in Bostonand if Grammer’s wishes come true, he may be reunited with some familiar faces from his first time in the city.
In a new interview withVariety, Grammer reveals that he has some ideas on how tobring backCheers' Shelley Long’s Diane Chambers and Ted Danson’s Sam Malone. Despite this, he reveals that their appearance will depend on whether the actors are willing to participate in the Paramount+ show. Read his full quote below:

It’s just a matter of willingness to be on the show. And if there’s a good story. I’d still love to have Shelley come back and play Diane, for one more sense of closure for Frasier. Because now that he’s back in Boston, there are things that will come up, and I think that she would be one of them. And Ted, we have a few ideas for that.
Is The Frasier Reboot Season 2 The Right Time To Feature Cheers Characters?
Sam And Diane’s Cameo Can Answer A Big Cheers Question
It may sound simple, but the reality is, Grammer hasn’t had the best of luck when trying to bring back familiar faces to his new endeavor. Ahead of the show’s debut in 2023, he revealed that David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves both declined to return as Niles and Daphne in theFrasierreboot, forcing him and his creative partners to pivot with their storytelling approach.Bebe Neuwirth and Peri Gilpin, however, returned as Lilith and Roz, and the latter is already confirmed for a recurring guest star stint in theFrasierreboot season 2.
Assuming that either Long or Danson agrees to cameo in the Paramount+ revival, doing so in its upcoming year would give it a big boost. In its debut year, Frasier managed to have very little reference to his time inCheers, although it was well-established that he has a history with Boston. Seeing some of the people that he hung out with regularly the last time he was in Beantown would not only be great for nostalgia, it would also allow the Frasier reboot to finally answer its biggest lingering question:what happened to the Cheers bar?

Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier Season 2 Niles Update Exposes The Harsh Truth About The Reboot
As work on Frasier reboot season 2 starts, Kelsey Grammer’s update about seeing David Hyde Pierce’s Niles reveals the harsh truth about the revival.
Now thatFrasier has established his new life in Boston, it shouldn’t hurt the reboot to lean a bit more into nostalgia. It’s much weirder if theFrasierreboot continues to ignore the character’s time spent with Sam, Diane, and the rest of the people in the famed bar. It’s also disrespectful to the character’s origins story since he first made an impression being the elitist regular at the Boston pub.
