The Hitman game series stands out as the crown jewel of stealth gaming. From Absolution to Silent Assassin, these are the best of the bunch.

Hitman: Absolution Was A More Linear Hitman Entry

But Still Has Plenty Of Replayability

Hitman: Absolutionoffered several of the core components fans of the franchise had come to expect, as they had the freedom to take out a target in a variety of ways, from simply shooting them tosetting up elaborate traps to make it look like an accident. There was also the option to don disguises that could be found across a level or taken off unsuspecting NPCs, ranging from cleaners to masked wrestlers, to infiltrate specific areas.

Absolutionalso added a new Instinct mode, which was carried forward into theHitman: World Of Assassinationtrilogy, which let players monitor nearby enemy movements through walls and alerted them to which ones might be able to see through particular disguises so they could plan their way around the levels accordingly. Admittedly,Absolutionis the most linear of all of theHitmangames, which was controversial among some fans at the time as iteschewed the more vast sandbox-type levels seen in its predecessors in exchange for a greater variety of smaller missions.

To make up for this more linear approach,Absolutionintroduced the Challenges system, whichprovided plenty of replayabilityas players could easily dip into these missions and be rewarded for trying different approaches. Challenges proved to be popular and were also carried over to theHitman: World Of Assassinationtrilogy, which brought back a smaller number of larger sandbox levels per game, merging the traditionalHitmangames' formula with some of the best new additions ofHitman: Absolution.
