In August 2021, Gabby was reported missing, having vanished during her cross-country vanlife trip with Brian, her fiance. After being named as a person of interest, Brian went on the run, during which time Gabby’s remains were found by the authorities.

A month later, Brian’s remains were also found. He died by suicide, leaving behind a notebook in which he confessed to the murder.

Brian Laundrie took photos of bones after murdering Gabby Petito

The following day, on August 28, he went on a hike, during which time he took a series of photos. Although he took some pictures of the scenery, many of them were of dead animals and bones.

As said in thedocumentaryseries by FBI agent Kyle, the “investigation found that Brian killed Gabby and moved her body to where it was found.

“On the 28th, Brian had left from the Spread Creek area and had hiked up north towards the Colter Bay camping area. Along the way, he was taking photos.

“Some of them were scenic but he was also taking a lot of pictures of bones, of animals that were deceased.”

It’s just one of many chilling details about this case. Earlier in American Murder, Gabby’s best friend Rose Davis opens up about the “dark side” of Brian, saying, “Even in his art, you could see it.”
